The benefits of using serviced meeting rooms

 Monday, April 09, 2012

These days, many businesses are trying to find ways to cut costs and improve efficiencies, while promoting a healthy work-life balance within their workforce. As such, many companies are giving their staff the opportunity to work flexibly and remotely - with many setting their own hours and working from their home office. In extreme cases, some firms have even decided to close a central office space in favour of an entirely home-based operation.

This is all very well and good, as it certainly reduces overheads quite considerably and appears to suit the majority of employees. However, it doesn't suit every situation. What happens, for example, when you have a board or client meeting? Or need to call the staff together for an important communication? Conference calls and emails may not be appropriate.

Fortunately, there is an easy solution - hire serviced meeting rooms. London is the obvious choice, being the business centre of the country; however, there are such offices located in most    [read more..]

Summer Parties An Increasingly Popular Choice For UK Companies

 Tuesday, March 27, 2012
Festive celebrations have always been a big part of any company's calender, a great way for the bosses to thank employees for all of their hard work over the course of the year as well as bringing people together in a relaxed social environment to bond over some food and drink outside of the workplace. They are typically inexpensive affairs, something which even stretched corporate budgets can accommodate without too much trouble. In recent years however, companies have started to realise the importance of summer events too, a way of taking people's love for good weather and al fresco partying and tying it into a mid-year bonding experience.
Traditionally seen as something of a luxurious treat for large multinationals with room in their budgets for wining and dining workers in the summer months at lavish venues such as Ascot Racecourse, these events are now being offered by venues on the same    [read more..]

Low budget event planning – Use of event planning tools

 Saturday, June 18, 2011

Your budget can be a big constraint while planning an event. Different events have a fixed budget. There is a limit for your spending. Careful considerations need to be given while planning an event based on the available budget figures. There are certain points to be considered while planning a low budget event.

Budget can be flexible based on your affordability. If you can fit in all your expenditures within the pre-planned budget, well and good. Just follow it. But in case there is a possibility of extending your budget, expand it. Final option is to cut down your expenses. Make sure that your budget covers all the expected expenses such as venue, food and beverages, party decorations, etc. Calculate an average expense per person.

Make sure that you only have the invited guests, also be sure of inviting the necessary people only – when you are throwing an event at low cost. When you plan things accordingly, even if the overall cost is    [read more..]

Development of Event Planning Over the Last Century

 Thursday, February 24, 2011

Event planning can be defined as the systematic management of events and gatherings. It is one of the emerging sectors with a promising future. Event planning that we see in the current scenario has come through various developmental stages during the last century. From small board room meetings to large wedding parties and birthday blasts are being taken care of by event planners.

When we look in to the history of event planning some 100 years ago, it was hardly considered as a profession even. Now event planning is one of the most successful professions in the service sector where individuals are responsible for planning the entire requirements of a social event. Event planners take the responsibility of all the aspects of a function. Google…As a Wedding Planner?

I must admit that I do not remember what I did before Google.com. My parents spent a lot of money on reference books that I used as a child for school reports or just general interest. Now that I have Google, which I use between 5 and 80 times a day, there are no limits to the information, people, resources I can get my eyes on. My clients compliment my ability to produce multiple options for some of their toughest challenges… Yes, Google and I make a beautiful pairing.

Will you choose a Florist or a Designer?

 Monday, January 24, 2011

Flowers and décor can be the next highest ticket item for a wedding. Aside from floral centerpieces, if one wants to truly create a stunning wedding, there are selection such as lines, lighting, chairs, lounge furniture, bellowing fabrics, illumination box etc etc. If the budget allows you to “Pimp Up” your big day, the most common question is should I choose a Florist or an Event Designer??

FLORIST:

These can be neighborhood shops that have been part of the community for years. They cater to “foot traffic” and create arrangements that cater more towards the personal flowers. Some florists have taken on the additional business of weddings. However, they can be limited in their resources and inventory. They may tend to be less “hands-on”. They will not be a one stop shop if you want to add linen, lighting, etc. to your event. You will work individually with different vendors and    [read more..]

Understanding RSVP as an Action Item

 Saturday, January 08, 2011

If there is one thing that frustrates event hosts and planners alike, it is the lack of credence given to the RSVP. Invitations are different from announcements in that they are a petition for your presence. Once you receive one, regardless of your availability, they create an action item for you. Are you in, or are you out? Either way, your host needs to know.

I remember in grammar school when kids brought their neat little bundles of birthday invitations to classrooms. It was there, right in front of everyone, that you either got one...or you didn't. If you did get one, you ran home with it to ask your mom if you could go to the party. "Please, because all my friends will be there" was your plea. My mom usually rolled her eyes, but always said, "Let me call her/his mother". It was in that statement that    [read more..]

Thus, food is sent to far-off places. Catering businesses or professionals are predicted to have the capability of getting ready food, and at the same time, attracting positive attention.

Besides that, other well known catering businesses in Malaysia are Uncle Rahim’s Catering, Selera Emas Catering, Yeob Catering, Wing Loong Caterers, Restoran Sri Munura, and Kampung Ku Catering Services.

The fundamental responsibility of a catering business is food catering. There were no available transportation in Bohol aside for a private van or car I just remembered Bali hehehe…. We couldn’t travel by taxi, we instead rented a van. Our first stop was in Loboc river had a sumptuous buffet lunch by the river with bands singing old “kundiman” songs – the songs just inspired me of going back to the 80’s. After that we went to the hanging bridge. I bought “pasalubong” at the end of the bridge. Manangs were selling pasalubong and the cute tarsiers.:)    [read more..]

What is a "Wedding Photojournalist"?

 Monday, November 01, 2010

By A. Michael's Photography

So what is a true “wedding photojournalist?” He/she is a photographer who is dedicated, from beginning to end, to photograph a wedding like a Time Magazine photographer might photograph the "day in the life" of President Obama. His/her desire is to capture the actual story of the day with all the emotion, drama, and reality that develops without any prompting whatsoever. A client who selects a wedding photojournalist or a documentary wedding photographer should be doing so because they are not interested in contrived, staged, posed or set-up style photographs that their photographer creates for the sake of making a “perfect” photo. A great image usually has 3 main components.

1) Great composition. Now you don't have to have a degree in photography to understand basic composition, but the subjects are not normally centered in the image (there are always exceptions). Here's a great sign of great photos. Are they memorable? Do they grab you visually? Do they evoke a strong feeling/emotion when viewed? Those are all good signs.

Why Women Make Great Planners

 Saturday, October 09, 2010

One would notice that most great planners are women. Women are usually called upon to uphold the task of making plans for events, budgeting, even a simple family trip! In case you're wondering the reasons underlying this scenario, there is evidence as to why women make great planners. Just as there are major differences between the personality and characteristics of both males and females, these differences make women stand out as better planners compared to their male counterparts.

Researchers generally believe that the female brain is organized to function more symmetrically. This allows integration of both sides of the brain functions more readily compared to the brain of a male. A recent research which included solving word games found that men tended to use only the left side of the brain when completing the task. On the other hand, women drew on both hemispheres. Due to this anatomical and functional brain    [read more..]

Wedding Day Hairstyles and Makeup

1 Comment(s)
 Thursday, October 07, 2010

Majority of brides today prefer the do-it-yourself approach when it comes to choosing and creating their wedding hairstyle and makeup. The idea of reflecting yourself at its very best should prevail in your wedding day style decisions. Whether you choose to get the assistance of a stylist or being your own style guru, staying true to who you are will create a memorable statement that reflects your real self.

Many DIY brides get inspiration from pictures, select the look they like, and then convey their idea to a professional who will complete the rest. Several others may decide to manage the look from the beginning till the end.

To determine the best hairstyle and makeup for your wedding, first take into account your wedding gown style. A simple 1940s-style gown that is form fitting will inspire red lipstick with a soft, curled down-do ala Veronica Lake. Ceremony Music

 Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Submitted by Adel Domingo, Event Architect with Oliveaire Artisan Events and Meetings

I’ve never attended a wedding ceremony without music, except for mine, because my husband and I got married in a civil ceremony in a typical judge’s bureaucratic office. Not cool, or should I say, there was no warmth or romance at all. It wasn’t us. We love music. We did get married in a church a year later and we were surrounded by our loved ones and, of course, music. My brother’s band played at our reception.

No matter what kind of ceremony you’re having, you need a song for the intro, possibly a reflection or dedication song somewhere in the middle, and a recessional song. The Best and Worst Parts of Planning a Meeting/Event

 Thursday, September 16, 2010

When planning a meeting or event, many things can go wrong and sometimes, you may not even be able to anticipate them. Your job as an event planner is to be able to come up with backup plan in these situations and execute them as smoothly as possible.  Wednesday, August 25, 2010

For artists & musicians alike, choosing the right event venue is vital in getting themselves heard or noticed. During such events such as gigs and art exhibitions are times when such opportunities to demonstrate or the display of talents and potentials exists.
